I'm Heather McKenzie, a registered nurse who reads the whole chart and the whole body. Therapeutic massage, Ayurvedic lifestyle coaching, and clinical advocacy — for people worn down by stress, pain, and care scattered across too many offices. And for the ones managing it on someone else's behalf.

Finding the root is the clinical work — the chart, the history, the patterns nobody connected. The regimen is what you actually do on any given day.
Three ways I work with people. Most start on the table.

Some pain needs pressure. Some pain can't tolerate any.
Therapeutic Massage
For stress and pain that have settled into the body.
An hour or more where nobody needs anything from you. I'm a licensed massage therapist and a registered nurse, which means when I find the thing under your left shoulder blade I'm also thinking about your sleep, your medications, and what the last six months have asked of you. Not just the muscle.
We talk first. Then you get quiet and I get to work. You're draped the whole time, you can fall asleep, and you never have to make conversation.
Good starting point if you're carrying stress physically, in pain that hasn't responded to the obvious things, or you want to know whether we work well together before committing to anything larger.
From $120. Longer sessions and packages available.
Marma Point Therapy
For when friction, movement and deep work isn't the answer.
Marma points are the junctions where Ayurveda maps prana — life force — gathering in the body. The work is light, precise, and held rather than rubbed. There's nothing to brace against.
This is the bodywork for people who can't have bodywork. If deep pressure isn't safe or bearable — anticoagulant therapy, fragile bone, pain that's everywhere with nothing on the scan, too depleted to be worked on — this is what I'd do instead. It's also for anyone whose real reason for never booking a massage is that they don't want to undress for a stranger.
Sessions run from 30 minutes, fully clothed with just your shoes off, to a full-body session of 75 minutes. Traditionally used to support sleep, stress, and recovery.
From $75. Session lengths and pricing at booking.

For building a daily rhythm that actually holds.
You already know what you should be doing. You've known for years. The problem was never information. Ayurveda is the oldest holistic medical system in the world, and what I take from it is practical: your constitution, your *prakriti*, and what your particular body needs across a day and a season. We build that into the life you actually have — food, sleep, movement, and the small rituals that downshift a nervous system. Structured against the standards of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, so it holds up to evidence as well as tradition. You'll leave with three things to do. Not thirty.
Good starting point if you're burned out, tired in a way sleep doesn't fix, or you'd rather prevent the next thing than repair it.
Pricing: Initial 90-minute whole-person assessment, $300. Follow-up sessions $135. Packages available.
For when care is scattered across too many offices, too many providers.
Four specialists. None of them have spoken to each other. Someone is carrying the entire history, repeating it at every visit, catching the contradictions nobody else caught — and that someone is you, whether the patient is you or your mother or your kid. I spent a decade in healthcare executive leadership running value-based care and care management programs. I know how the system decides things, because I helped run it. I read the complete record — history, labs, imaging, medications, every note — and I build one file and one timeline. I'll tell you which appointment matters most and exactly what to ask when you get there. When it helps, I speak with your providers directly as your clinical liaison.
I'm not replacing anyone's doctors. I'm making sure they add up to something.
Good starting point if there's a complex or long-running condition, a new diagnosis you're still reeling from, multiple specialists, or a parent's care you've quietly become responsible for.
Advocacy is priced by scope — a medication review is a different than a full health record portfolio build. Start with a free 15-minute call and I'll tell you what your situation actually needs, and what it costs.
I'm a registered nurse with more than 30 years in healthcare, including a decade in executive leadership. I've always valued what western medicine does well. It stabilizes people. It saves lives.
Root & Regimen became clear to me during a clinical internship immersed in Ayurveda, at the National Institute of Ayurveda in Jaipur, India. That experience named what modern healthcare so often misses: how much our environment and our daily choices shape whether we are well.
Today I combine the assessment skills of an executive RN, the principles of Ayurveda, and the standards of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. I built this practice for people worn down by fragmented care and symptom-chasing — and for the ones managing it on someone else's behalf. I won't hand you a one-size-fits-all plan. I'll help you read your own body, and I'll read everything else.
I teach Integrative Case Management at Maha Vidya Yoga and Ayurveda — how clinicians can practice Ayurveda alongside western medicine rather than around it.
The information and services provided are intended to support health optimization, illness prevention, and pain relief through evidence-based, wellness-focused interventions. They are not intended to diagnose, treat, or replace conventional medical care. Clients are encouraged to consult their preferred healthcare providers before changing treatment plans or beginning new holistic protocols.

Most people aren't. Book a free 15-minute call and we'll sort it out together — including if the answer is that I'm not the right fit, which I'll tell you.
